THE DOMINO CAPER — Make a Blake
MAKE a BLAKE
As seen on the cover of The Domino Caper
Well, here’s how to Make-A-Blake. If you’ve read THE DOMINO CAPER you’ll know that Blake’s Uncle Nick helps him with his cardboard models.
*********************************
Whilst not an easy project, with a little care and patience constructing your Blake E should not be too difficult. This cardboard figure does, however, require the help of an adult or older brother or sister.
The photographs, together with the notes on the cut-outs, should help in the construction. Anyway, have fun, be careful and enjoy your Blake E!
SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT
PVA glue
Two pairs of scissors. A normal pair and a pair with sharp points for small cut-outs.
A scoring stylus or small knife with a blunt edge.
Tooth picks for applying glue sparingly.
A small pair of pliers with smooth jaws.
A sharp knife for cutting the slots in Blake’s hair.
CONSTRUCTION HINTS
Download the PDF files. These can be printed at home or at an ‘Office’ shop.
I suggest card which is 200g/sm.
Cut out ALL pieces and score fold lines.
Apply glue sparingly to glue-tabs.
Press glued areas together and hold tightly for several seconds. For a stronger bond clamp with pliers where possible. Wipe off excess glue immediately.
Glue a tab on one piece and while drying glue part of another piece.
Numbered tabs give a suggested gluing order.
A blob of Blu-Tack in the toes of the shoes will help Blake stand.
The top of each leg has a tab which is folded over and glued on the opposite side.
Fit each leg by applying a plenty of glue on the side and tabbed end. Hold the leg against the middle cardboard and top cardoard in Blake’s shorts until it stays in place. ENJOY!
